SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 2 – J.P. Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank were sued for their enabling of Jeffrey Epstein, in lawsuits filed on Thanksgiving 2022 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found them in the docket.

On October 15, 2025, amid a push in Congress to fully release the so-called Epstein files, a lawsuit was filed in SDNY against Bank of America, 1:25-cv-8520 (Rakoff)
Jones Day stepped in for Bank of America on its Epstein issues - which have been raised to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency by Fair Finance Watch.
On January 29 Judge Jed S. Rakoff while dismissing some counts against BofA allowed to go forward count 1 (”Knowing Beneficiary in a Sex-Trafficking Venture in Violation of 18 USC 1591(a)(2), 1595”) and count 4 (”Obstruction of the Enforcement of the TVPA, 18 USC 1591(d)” - and still the OCC (and UN) do nothing.

On March 11 a telephone conference was held on deposition Leon Black, now for eight and not 14 hours, and on a ten day delay: March 26.

On March 16, docketed: “The parties apprised the Court they had reached a settlement in principle. The Court approved the parties joint request to stay all pending deadlines and set the following schedule with regard to settlement approval proceedings: The parties joint papers are due March 27, 2026, and the Court will hold a hearing to consider the settlement proposal at 11 a.m. on April 2, 2026 .”
On April 2 Inner City Press live tweeted - a final proceeding was set for August 27, since David Boies said he will be in Africa with his family on August 20.
Then a woman who we’ll leave unnamed and undescribed spoke up, how the two law firms had turned her away, were too expensive and had conflicts of interest. Judge Rakoff gently urged her to go to the pro se office rather than proceed in open court.
