SDNY MAG COURT EXCLUSIVE, August 8 - In the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 8, a detention or release proceeding was held by Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger on a defendant charged with making threats against former US President Donald Trump. He was released the same day, on $50,000 bond. Inner City Press was there.
Notably, the defendant was said to have substantial assets - an estate - and a friend or romantic connection in Colombia. He nevertheless got and has a taxpayer funded Federal Defender.
Judge Lehrburger told him he would be released but should turn in his passport and find one financial responsible person to co-sign at a date in the future.
He was told not to go near Trump Tower or other Trump properties, with golf courses the example given. He was said to be 78 years old, wearing a tucked-in green polo shirt. The US Marshals had a clear plastic bag with his belongings, including multiple medication bottles. His name was said to be "Schlager."
