SDNY COURTHOUSE, Nov 15 – A Bronx man federally charged in connection with shooting a gun on East 167th Street at 8 pm on June 21, 2023 was ordered released on $75,000 bond in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court on November 15. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag court.
Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger said the two prior convictions cited by the prosecutor for defendant Dante Petteway were relatively old (2014 and 2020), and that Petteway could live with his mother.
He had already been taken to sign his bond, and was in the courthouse bathroom, when the prosecutor asked for and got a 24 hour stay, to consider appealing.
Petteway was brought back through the courtroom by Marshals, and back into the lock up. Inner City Press will stay on the case.
