100 CENTRE ST COURT, April 23 – As the Trump Trial slogs forward in New York State court in lower Manhattan, the conditions for reporting differ not only from those in Georgia - where camera in the courtroom are allowed - but even to the Federal SDNY court a mere two blocks away.  

Inner City Press which mostly covers SDNY has in the Trump Trial been in both the main courtroom (viewing the back of Trump's head and fielding questions to confirm or deny that he farted) and in the so-called overflow courtroom down the hall.   

In the latter, Trump's facial expressions and those of his lawyers and the prosecutors are visible in TV screens in the front, which some have taken to viewing through opera glasses.

Not allowed, though, are cameras or recorders of any kind.

That is the rule in SDNY as well, and Inner City Press obeys in both places. This is particularly the case as it has been banned from the UN for entirely lawful reporting - it empathizes and identifies, seeking to defend, anyone banned.

 Mistakes are made. This week, the correspondent of one high-profile financial newspaper was officially called out of the overflow courtroom, not to return.

Then a seemingly innocent photograph of another person in the courtroom, after the proceeding was over, gave rise to a request to leave, and laughter
