UN GATE, September 1 – With France taking over presidency of the UN Security Council on September 1, 2022, on August 31 Inner City Press wrote to the French Mission to the UN to request in advance access to its September 1 press conference by Ambassador Nicolas de Riviere.
Inner City Press asked the French Mission, and the UN, about the MONUSCO scandal - sex for UN Volunteer jobs paid with taxpayers' funds - in the DRC Congo. Inner City Press exclusive here. Its email to the listed Mission spokesman Alexis MOJAISKY came back thusly:
"I am no longer in office in the French Mission to the UN. Please contact Marjolaine Brée (marjolaine.bree@diplomatie.gouv.fr or my successor, Alexandre Neymann (alexandre.neymann@diplomatie.gouv.fr), who is taking over on Monday 29 August."
But Mr. Neymann did not answer. And, surprisely perhaps for a spokesperson in 2022, he does not appear to be on Twitter.
Instead, a scam press conference by Nicolas de Riviere, with softball questions in French (video here) and a final incoherence question from a long retired correspondent who, only this week, literally fell asleep in the briefing room.
This while Inner City Press is banned from entry, which it had for years until it exposed UN corruption. No response to this appeal. Impunity.
Inner City Press will be covering the French presidency, quite actively, this month. It publish France's empty Program of Work, here: Yemen on September 8, South Suden on the 15, then a long emptiness until the 27th.
A meeting on Ukraine September 22, no outcome is even to be attempted, de Riviere said. He said that genocide in Xinjiang is not in the "purview" of the Security Council - but Ethiopia / Tigray "clearly is."
He claimed Macron is all about Responsibility to Protect.
Well, no press freedom. Our requests and questions remain; we will publish any responses, and also on non-responses. Watch this site.
