FEDERAL COURT, June 7 – Minutes into a break in the impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate, accused insurrectionist Domenic Pezzola was ordered detained until trial by Magistrate Judge Robin M. Meriweather. Inner City Press live tweeted it, below. There was an appeal.
On June 7, months after the DC Circuit's decision in US v. Munchel, DDC Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly held a proceeding on Jesus D. Rivera, who while awaiting trial in DC is in Florida. Inner City Press live tweeted it here
The Assistant US Attorney says they are collecting any video of alleged officer misconduct on Jan 6. Assistant US Attorney: I plan in 60 days to provide defense counsel with the video of Mr. Rivera's statement to the FBI.
Judge: Any plea offer?
AUSA: Yes, the most generous one, not even covered by US Sentencing Guideline. $500 in restitution, sentence of 60 days.
Judge: Basically disorderly conduct?
AUSA: His choice. But the plea offer has been rejected. And defense says that's not where we are.
Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly: It's his decision to make. But I do put them on the record, what he was offered.
Defense lawyer: They said six months in jail. Now they're saying 60 days.
AUSA: I'm fairly certain it's 60 days.
Judge: That's a big difference.
AUSA: I stand corrected, it would be six months.
Judge: If he changes his mind, you'll reach out to the court or the government?
Defense: Yes, your honor.
Judge: I just want to make sure we have a record of what was offered. Is it premature to proceed to trial?
Defense: Yes, we may have motions. So let's wait.
Judge: Mr. Rivera, do you agree?
Rivera: Yes, your Honor. Judge: So, sixty days. Or more. Let's say Aug 31.
We will have more on this.
