LITERARY COURTHOUSE, Feb 26 – After a DEA agent who had been in Honduras for all of a month in her career got off the stand, the prosecutors put on another narco, one they had used before.
But this time they changed his name.
Back in 2022 Kurt Wheelock had seen him, at a hearing before the sentencing of Fredy Najera. He went by his real name then: Alexander Monroy-Murillo, aka Serrucho, aka Mango like the fruit. Now in US v. JOH they were calling him Luis Perez.
But it wasn't his name that stood out, but his testimony. Sure he recounted giving money for JOH's 2013 campaign. But then answering questions about laundering money back to his native Colombia he mentioned the role of a diplomat in the Israeli embassy in Bogota.
She moved $150 million, he said. There was no follow up. Yet?
